Original Outage - 03/20/2018 07:00
IT technicians are moving existing public IP addresses to private IP addresses in Engineering North, Bldg. 0059. This work is part of an ongoing campuswide project to increase the number of available public IP addresses. Most employees will not notice connectivity changes after the private IP addresses are installed. Network downtime will be minimal.

Technicians should map printers to workstations by hostname, rather than by IP address to avoid connection errors after the IP address move is completed.
Affected building: Engineering North, Bldg. 0059 IP (Internet Protocol) addresses are simply the address of a computer or device on a network. Public IP addresses are those that can be publically "seen" by other computers. Many private IP addresses can be attached to a single public IP address. In this way, the number of available IP addresses increases.
